Today Sony released a new game titled The Last Guardian

Created by the same team that created Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian looks as though it has some framilar elements, along with somethings completely new.

From the looks of it, the protaginist (a young boy) and his companion (a large bird like dog) travel and explore a desolate kingdom in search of something (I am not sure of what at the moment). Based on the trailer the game looks massive and absolutely stunning.

I'm really liking the look of this game, as I thought I would. Having played most of Shadow of the Collossus(not sure if I spelt that right), I've seen first hand how much detail and emphasis they put into the environments and emotional aspects of their games. While not necessarily blockbusters, both Ico and SoC are known for these qualities, as well as a minimalistic game style. As for the Lost Guardian, it seems as though they're living up to(and even exceeding) the expectations many of us have had for this game. Can't wait to see more.

Felt this thread needed some updating. This game looks so unbelievably beautiful and I can not wait to play it. I think this game alone is good enough reason to purchase a playstation 3.

Not much is known right now, but that creature sold me on getting this game. It seems like it'll be a very epic game. I've never played a Team Ico game before, but I know that they're praised for their quality games. Luckily, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection is coming out this fall in remastered HD. That should hold me busy until the Last Guardian comes out.

I played shadow of the colossus and very much enjoyed it. It is definitely a challenging game but also very unique and fantasy driven much like TLG seems to be. However, I appreciate the simplicity of these games and that is why I look forward to The Last Guardian so much. It just seems so simple and beautiful and yet, somehow somewhat scary. All of the qualities that most new titles seem to lack. I also appreciate the time put into this game and how Ueda said himself that he would rather take a long time on a game and make the players wait, than rush something half done onto the shelves.

I've noticed most of their games seem to have an artistic feel to them much like you said. That's something that has got me excited for this and the remastered editions as well. I'm glad that Ueda's philosophy is that of taking his time on games. I'd rather wait for an epic than to pay for something rushed.

If you haven't played any of their games, you should definitely get the Team Ico HD compilation, Luis. I haven't actually played Ico, but I'm sure it's wonderful, given how amazing Colossus was...but like you guys said, expect a simple, artistic, lonely game. There aren't many characters, there aren't sidequests or really many enemies...it's just a vast, rather empty (albeit beautiful) world similar in nature to something you'd expect from a Zelda game. The games are also very memorable...so if you want an epic and unforgettable experience, I say pick them up. Especially in light of the Last Guardian's imminent release.
