So I've almost finished Super Mario Galaxy and have the whole Summer holidays (vacations, whatever) in front of me. Going at this rate, I'll have nothing to do for the rest of my 6 weeks (socialising you say? Don't be absurd!) and I'm thinking of getting my next game. I looked through IGN's and ONM's (they're British, you won't know 'em) top Wii games and saw the Metroid Prime Trilogy set on the list. I hadn't played the first or second Metroid so assuming I had missed out on a large chunk of story, didn't buy the third either.

Now, with Metroid, Other M coming out later this year (so, middle of next year for me) I figured this would be the perfect game to get me in stead for Other M. Not to mention, it's a 3-in-1 so would hopefully last a long time.

I was just wondering, since there are probably at least one or two MP fans, whether you all think it's worth it.

It's a great set. Purchased mine through eBay since I couldn't find any copies in my local stores. Like Jody said, it's a must-have for any Wii owner.

I HIGHLY recommend the first two. (Can't speak for the third since I don't have it yet) If you've played Super Metroid you have a good idea of what to expect. The story is mostly an optional sidequest, but the action and exploration parts make the Prime games shine IMO.

P.S. If you get the game, tell me how many tries it takes you to beat the Omega Pirate! That's the only boss besides Shadow Link (LoZ 2) that can still give me a battle.

SmashedBrother: I really didn't find the Omega Pirate that difficult. In fact, I killed him first try on Veteran.

However, I also didn't find any of the bosses that difficult on Veteran. Apparently the Wii versions were toned down a little on the tough bosses. According to a friend of mine, if you crank it up to Hypermode, that's what it was like on Veteran (or maybe it was Normal) on the GC version.

Which is another thing; the Wii controls seem to make things a lot easier on the first two games, compared to how difficult I've been told they were.

I missed one of the scans on Chykka in Echoes, which irritated me.

In any case, they're all great games and absolutely worth the price of one regular game. But if you want to get the full story as you go, without having to look at the leaflet they give you that explains the entire story to you in large text blocks, remember to scan EVERYTHING. Everything new, I should say. Don't scan an enemy or door once you've already scanned it. But the logs from the Chozo and Space Pirates and what-not; those you absolutely have to scan to get everything.
