Ok, I know why everyone considers items to be too random, but getting and using the smash ball takes skill (with the exception of Sonic, who might well just automatically take a life from each player, and DK's, who's only purpose is to keep someone else from getting the ball), and trying to hard to get it can leave you open to another attack.
I play with items because it helps with my dodging and it tought me to expect the unexspested (and to never trust capsuls). smash balls are no different, it inhances your ability to persue, and helps your attack timing as well, and if u dont get the smash ball well better learn to evade. thats why i play with items. they do have benefits u know.
Ya plus you can kill some players who are going after the SB because usually they're dodge is low (they try to hit the SB so they cant air dodge or use shield at the same time) easier to kill people and the number of hits for a SB always changes so it abit random also. I would say its fair since its brawl
